I had an awesome time in Hong Kong getting to know some of the youth leaders over there during the Singapore-Hong Kong International Youth Exchange Programme. Every single day was packed to the brim with activities! It was exhausting but very fulfilling!
There’s really too much to write about, there’s even a whole blog about our journey! http://shinkyep.wordpress.com (We even had a social media team that took care of all the blogging during the trip.)
I was very honored to have been among the 25 Singapore Delegates selected. It was an amazing experience and I learnt so much! It was actually very cold over in Hong Kong (about 10 degrees), but the warmth of the Hong Kong delegates that hosted us made it very comfortable.
I’ll just post a few selective photos, since there are so many!

This is one of my favorite parts of the entire trip. We took a boat ride for about 2 hours to an Island called Tung Ping Chau. It was a gorgeous island, completely preserved, the waters were crystal clear. There was a bit of marine life, sea urchins, little fishes etc.

Me and some of the Hong Kong Youth Delegates! =D

The waves were HUGEEEE, the boat was tilting from side to side, like some amusement park pirate ship ride. But it was fun! And we played games on the deck!

I had a lot of fun with Jieying, all kinds of weird kung fu poses along the way. We had to climb these big rocky structures against the sea. This part you see is the easy part. After this we literally had to climb upwards with our bare hands!

This photo was taken by my friend on our trip back from Tung Ping Chau to Hong Kong Island. I was just admiring the beautiful sunset. =)
We pulled a special performance during our farewell dinner. =) It was hilarious!

As you can see, we do goof around a lot. =p

It was a beautiful trip, and I’m glad to have made so many wonderful new friends. =)
Starstruck 2010 was a singing competition that Zhenghua YEC co-organised with Gefang Music Academy. I’d say it was an interesting event. I had a lot of fun listening to the contestants at the auditions. Some of them really impressed me, some were pretty funny, but it was all very entertaining to watch. I actually had to miss the Shine Awards at Resort World Sentosa, something I was very keen to attend, so that I could be present during the auditions. But it very fun indeed, watching the contestants.
Then it came to the point where we had to start eliminating people and narrowing all the contestants down to the final 12, that was really hard! Zhiyang apparently didn’t have much trouble though, he’s very professional about it: if you aren’t good enough, you aren’t good enough. He always complains about me being too nice, too diplomatic and beating around the bush too much. That’s not true right?! Heh.
The finals were held at Bukit Panjang Plaza, it attracted quite a crowd of youths who gathered to watch the final 12 pit against each other. Unfortunately, I haven’t gotten hold of the official photos for the event. I only have a few that some friends took and sent to me. Just bits and pieces: (Do send me some if you have more)

Jiamin and Sheena from Campus Superstar were also there to judge the competition. And Zhiyang of course.

Kudos to Zhiyang and his Gefang team for their hard work in planning for the event and for putting up a good show.
No. I was just kidding. I do not have a little brother.
The little boy in the previous post was just me, about 13 years ago. 0.0
But I sure got you, didn’t I! Haha!
Do you see the resemblance?
Life’s been quite fast-paced recently. It’ll be Chinese New Year in less than a week. Zhenghua YEC is involved in this year’s River Hongbao project. For those who have not read about it, River Hongbao is an annual national event that has been around for 23 years. It was estimated that last year’s River Hongbao attracted nearly half a million visitors in its twelve days of festivities. I’m look forward to see how this year’s turnout will be like! =D
We’ve also been working on our committee’s workplan for 2010. Lots of programmes and events for the year ahead. We’re in the midst of finalizing things about the new “Gefang Music Society (Zhenghua)” group. Just a few details to be taken care of. As for our old favourite, MADE, after a short hiatus, we’ll be hosting a welcome party sometime in March before kicking off the year’s plans. =DD
Oh! Also, The “Go Green!” series was nominated for a divisional community service award! The results have not been published yet, but I think what matters more is that the cause of promoting environmental sustainability and education is a worthwhile one and something we should continue working towards.
That aside, things in school are also progressing. We’ll be giving our final business development presentation next week. I’m quite excited about it. This presentation is going to be greattt! =)
The Christmas Show was fantastic!
There weren’t as many people as we had expected (though more than 1000 tickets had been sold). Nonetheless, it was a lot of fun for everyone.
I was a little nervous at first, because I haven’t emceed for an event in quite awhile, and this is my first time doing something like that in a church. Thank goodness, there was also Dorothy around. But everything turned out to be wonderful- the stage, the music, the performers.
Zhiyang did his thing.
Gefang did their thing.
The Dancers did their thing.
The Choir did their thing.
We did our thing.
And it all came together well. There was quite a lot of positive feedback. =DD
Well, more importantly, we all had fun.
I attended the PAYM west region chairmen’s meeting at the PAHQ with Raymond and Siow Chien today. I’m just totally exhausted right now. But I guess we had a rather fruitful meeting today. Hopefully there will be opportunities for all our YECs to work together and leverage on one another. =)
